In a significant prelude to the much-anticipated consecration of the Ram Lalla idol at his birthplace in Ayodhya, Kashi’s esteemed Vedic Karmkand scholar, Pt Laxmikant Mathuranath Dixit, declared on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the primary patron of the consecration rituals scheduled for January 22.
At the age of 86, Pt Laxmikant Mathuranath Dixit, the principal acharya of the ‘pran pratishtha,’ left his residence on Tuesday for Ayodhya, where he will lead a band of Vedic scholars and priests in the consecration ceremonies. The meticulous rituals, overseen, coordinated, and anchored by Kashi scholar and priest Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, will involve a team of 121 acharyas.
Given the constraints on the Prime Minister’s time, as he cannot stay for the entire duration of the rituals, other individuals will assist him as yajman (patron). The consecration rituals, which commenced on Tuesday, are a culmination of a meticulous process, with PM Modi set to play a central role during the proceedings.
As Pt Laxmikant Mathuranath Dixit embarked on his journey, the people of Kashi showered him with flower petals, creating an atmosphere resonating with ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans, accompanied by the reverberating sound of conch shells. BJP MLA from the city south, Neelkanth Tiwari, joined hundreds of well-wishers to bid farewell to the revered scholar.
Dixit, providing insights into the ongoing preparations, stated, “Rituals preceding the consecration have already commenced in the Ayodhya temple, including the ‘jalyatra’ in progress. I will join the team of Vedic scholars and Karmkandis to participate in the ‘yajman prayashchit’ ritual scheduled for Wednesday.”
The upcoming consecration promises to be a momentous occasion, with the presence of PM Modi symbolizing the significance of the event. The collaboration of revered scholars and priests underscores the spiritual and cultural significance of this event for devotees across the nation.
